I just returned from the most amazing one-day cherry-picking tour in Orange, and I have to share the experience! We started the morning with pick-ups in the city at 8:00 AM and Strathfield at 8:30 AM. Although I was still waking up, the scenic drive quickly lifted my mood. The group energy on the bus was lively, and it instantly felt like we were heading somewhere exciting.
Our first stop was the beautiful Hydro Majestic Hotel. Even though we didn’t stay long, the sweeping valley views and historic architecture made it worth the visit. It was the perfect moment to stretch our legs, take photos, and soak in the Blue Mountains air.
Afterwards, we continued towards Orange and stopped for a quick lunch at McDonald’s. It was simple and fast, which was ideal because we were all eager to get to the cherry farm.
Once we arrived at the orchard, the real adventure began. We spent two hours picking fresh cherries—big, sweet, juicy cherries that tasted incredible. The trees were loaded, and since tasting was allowed, we happily snacked as we picked. I ended up with cherry juice on my fingers and a huge grin the entire time.
If you plan to go, make sure to bring a hat and wear comfortable covered shoes. The farm covers a large area, and the paths can be uneven, so being prepared makes the experience much easier.
Before leaving, we visited the farm gate stall. I couldn’t resist buying fresh fruit and a tray of eggs. Surprisingly, they even sold double-yolk eggs from local Orange chickens. I’ve never seen anything like them, so I’m saving them for a special breakfast.
Overall, the day was absolutely perfect—from the great weather and friendly group to the delicious cherries and charming country scenery. I genuinely wish you could have joined me. Maybe next time we can all go together!
