What Can I see?

Victoria had its gold rush during the 1850's and many of our towns sprang from the goldfields. Ballarat is a fine example of a town that prospered on gold.

Ballarat A charming city with origins of gold - enjoy a complete town tour including Lake Wendouree, streets lined with stunning 19th century buildings, exquisite gardens, notable churches and the Eureka Stockade Centre, a state-of-the-art multi-media complex, which brings to life the 1854 miners uprising, where minors took up arms against a corrupt & unjust goldfield administration, a significant event in Australia's history.

Sovereign Hill is an internationally renowned heritage park on the site of the richest alluvial gold rush in the world. Visit "Voyage of Discovery" an audio visual of life on the Australian goldfields. You will have time to explore Red Hill Gully diggings, the Mine, the gold museum and the fully operational township...wander down Main Street, ride a stagecoach, talk to the blacksmith, try some homemade sweets!
